Love is in the air!

Love is in the air at the Remarkables Market this weekend with two Shop and Win Valentines day hampers for a lucky Market friend.

Our wonderul stallholders have provided a fabulous range of local and regional delights so that everyone who makes a purchase this weekend will be provided one entry form per stall where you made your purchase/s from, regardless of the number of items purchased or the dollar amount spent.

Entry forms will be available from the Market Information stall.  The draw will be made at 12.40pm, and the winners must be present to claim their prize, otherwise a redraw will take place.

Who will be the Remarkables Market Chef final?  Next Saturday is the last weekend of heats, with the first heat from 9.30 – 10.30 and the second from 11.00 – 12.00.

On another note, please dont hesitate to ask if a regular stallholder isn't at the Market.  Some of our regular stallholders are unfortunately at the mercy of the weather, and while it may seem a minor inconvenience for us, the impact is often very significant for growers.

For example, Shepherd Flat Flowers peonies and gentians got flattened in last week’s snow (we only got snow on the hills but David got 10cm on the ground!).

Similarly, Albert’s strawberries became too sodden in the downpour the Thursday before last, and then the weather was too overcast for them to ripen last week. However, the good news is Sollers Hope Strawberries will be here tomorrow.

This weekend see something new - Ben Rewa’s gorgeous pounamu pieces.  Smell something yummy - the sausages and bacon cooking on Zamora’s BBQ! Melissa from Cherry Blossom also sells fresh muesli and serves this with yoghurt. Come along and have your breakfast with us.  Listen to someone local - Sarah Deering will be joining us to sing from 9-11am then Mark Wilson and Emma Sykes from 11-1pm.  Taste somehting new - Rita’s Gem Squash, originally from in South Africa and delicious baked or steamed and served with a little salt and butter.

Come along, have a coffee, chat with friends, buy something yummy for lunch, browse for any presents you need to buy, read the papers, RELAX and soak up the unique atmosphere of our fabulous market.
