The New Zealand Mountain Bike Downhill Cup is a series of six events. A riders best five results (any five) will count towards a NZ MTB Downhill Cup title.The NZ MTB Cup comprises the North Island and South Island Downhill Cups also presented by Nature Valley. North and South Island Downhill Cup titles will be decided from points gathered at the three events in each island.
2012 NZ MTB Downhill Cup presented by Nature Valley, Round 1
Date: Sunday 8th and Monday 9th January 2012, Remarkables, Queenstown.
Event: A mountain bike downhill event - part of the new Zealand Series
Location: Remarkables Face Queenstown.
Course: The course - 375 vertical meters down open grassy tussocks of Remarkables Park finishing on the flat paddocks of the Mike Mee farm.
DOWNHILL
The all new Remarkables Face DH track leaves the 4km mark and drops down a rock face into opengrass turns followed by open flowy off camber open section.
A steeper section leads though a midway double gate turning left into matagouri lanes and long fast jumps before turning down steep bank, and steep turns down final face on through ‘the boulders, and through matagouri lanes to the finsh line.
Timing: Timing will be done by Hamish Seaton of Dunedin. Hamish has been responsible for all of the National Series race this year.
Toilets: Toilets available at start and at the finish area.
Transport: Via the Remarkables ski Field access road
Spectator Viewing: Access via start area or bottom - walking access only.
Notice board with ‘course warnings’ and watching protocol.
Property: Access is via the Remarkables ski field road, with the first section on Remarkables Park private land, changing into the operating farm land of Mike Mee’s.
