Actresses Amelia Guild and Emma Newborn are joined by acclaimed singer/songwriter Mel Parsons on this ambitious five-week 22 date tour, each show comprised of original music and theatre performances. Having both grown up on farms, Guild and Parsons were drawn to the idea of taking their respective crafts back to the rural community, while Newborn - a city girl through and through - is excited about sharing her theatre-immersed upbringing with country audiences.
About the Show
The idea was conceived when Guild and Newborn were thrown together by chance at an artist collective and were given 2 weeks to come up with a 10 minute performance piece - as luck would have it they hit it off right away, and with their on-stage chemistry receiving glowing reviews, the piece was soon developed into a full length work. Parsons joined the lineup last year, performing a solo set of music to complete a full night’s entertainment.
On the Night
Two-time Tui Award finalist Mel Parsons starts the evening off on a musical note with songs from her latest album ‘Red Grey Blue’. With a songwriting style recently compared with Fleetwood Mac (Rip it Up, Dec 2011), Parsons is a highly-regarded NZ touring artist, performer and songwriter.
Audiences are then invited to join Amelia Guild and Emma Newborn as they present a very unique and hilarious take of life on the farm. Watch as they throw the spotlight on our closest working mates and give voice to the inner workings of our four legged friends. Guaranteed to raise a smile, The Bitches’ Box promises to be a hearty romp around the kennels you thought you knew so well.
While being entertained, audiences will be able to enjoy the hospitality of the host farm, savor a glass or two of fine Allan Scott wines at the cash bar, and support their respective local school or community group who will be running a fundraising BBQ.
Pre-sale tickets are $33 + booking fee available online now at eventfinder.co.nz; Limited door-sales $40 will be available on the night.
